Information About the New Twin Falls Hospital

Concrete is poured, steel is going up, and earth-moving equipment is working
full bore at the site of the new St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center. The 40-
acre site at the corner of Pole Line and Grandview in Twin Falls is undergoing
a transformation from fallow field to state-of-the-art hospital.

Note of interest:
St. Luke’s believes in recycling! When the site was dug for the building footprint, a majority of the large volcanic rocks quarried are being crushed and used for drainage. Others have been set aside for landscaping use.

Did you know?
To build our new hospital, we are:

  • Using 2,714,400 bricks. It would take 2,430 bricks stacked on top of each other to reach from the Snake River to the bottom of the Perrine Bridge, and 2,250 bricks laid end to end to span the bridge. The Perrine Bridge is 1,500 feet long and 486 feet above Snake River.
  • Moving 352,000 cubic yards of earth.
  • Blasting and crushing 40,000 cubic yards of rock.
  • Pouring 20,000 cubic yards of concrete (or 25 acres of 6-inch thick concrete).
  • Using 8,560,000 pounds of steel.
